‘Encanto 2’ might be happening, but fans aren’t sold: "Not everything needs a sequel"

Disney is working on a potential storyline for Encanto 2. John Leguizamo, the actor who voiced Bruno in the OG film, revealed the same in a conversation with People Magazine on March 19. However, it is important to note that Disney has not officially confirmed the development plans. Leguizamo told People magazine:

"I'm also waiting for an Encanto 2 when all we do is talk about Bruno." '"I'm calling them every day saying 'When is No. 2 coming?' They're trying to come up with the storyline. They're working on it," he added.

Another day, another sequel. Looks like if we all close our eyes for 5 minutes straight, we would at least have 10 different sequels and reboots lined up each raising the disappointment bar higher. Social media users are officially diagnosed with sequel fatigue syndrome. At this point, it is not about Encanto being made again. It is about everything under the sun getting a reboot or a sequel.

While nothing about the film is official so far, fans have shared some hot takes.

Social media reacts to potential Encanto 2 in works

Firstly, social media dished out some predictable roasts with users exclaiming, "Nobody asked for this," and wondering how much more is there to milk from the story before realizing some originals need to be left in peace.

A user, @BethBaisch, stated:

"Not everything needs a sequel."

Another user, @illest_thriller, added:

"Bruh that's a 1 and done."

An X user, @WRLB2, mentioned:

"WHY?. Did anyone, literally anyone ask for Encanto 2?"

Some users even predicted the whole plot, joking that if a sequel is ever produced, it will be the same formulaic storyline—because at this point, there is only so much you can do with one story. One user, @Bolt_Zon, predicted:

"Let me guess, the family find outs there’s other parts of Colombia/countires with magic and they have to unite them to fight a evil that will be defeated by the power of magic but also uniting the different families and cultures?"

Another user @JigginJalen added:

"Don’t forget how Mirabel will fall in love with another girl from the other village and they will save the day."

One more user @wondermid2 mentioned:

"Let me guess. They meet another family with special powers too. Competitive turn into love and respect. And they find out more the origin of that magical power."

In the meantime, some users entirely disregarded the sequel vs reboot argument and opted to focus on the title, unleashing a string of sidesplitting puns.

A user @RyanLinus3927 suggested:

"Can it be called "Encan2"?"

Another user @FillyGoof said:

"“Encanto Tu” was right there 😭"

Some other users mocked the fact that Disney is still developing the plot, joking that they are most likely just rearranging the same old script with slight modifications.

A user @loganf2119 commented:

"“Trying to come up with a storyline” doesn’t inspire much confidence."

A user @Texascopywriter said:

"LOL they’re trying to come up with a storyline…sounds encouraging. 🙄"
