Elon Musk’s unexpected show of admiration for Donald Trump sparked amusement online, as the Tesla and SpaceX CEO delivered a memorable quote for 2025. On February 7, 2025, Friday, Musk posted to X (ex-Twitter):

"I love Donald Trump as much as a straight man can love another man".

Within no time, social media erupted in a fun commentary. Even Donald Trump Jr. chimed in, responding with a string of laughing emojis.

One user cheekily pointed out:

"Valentine's Day is on the 14th"

Another user joked:

"Says a lot when you have to state "as much as a straight man"."

Meanwhile, the term "greatest bromance in history" was thrown around.

A user humorously asked:

"If you love him so much why don’t you marry him."

A user thought this pictorial reaction was way more than mere words.

Poking fun at Edward Coristine, a user went on to comment:

"It takes Big Balls to post something like this."

A user stated:

"The most “fellas is it gay to” tweet ever twot."

A user joked:

"That's a very, very suspicious post to make Elon."

White House briefing: Doocy and the Donald Trump's response

Over at the White House, during a joint press conference with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, Fox News' Peter Doocy asked Trump the question we were all thinking:

"Elon Musk says, 'I love Donald Trump as much as a straight man can love another man.' What does the First Lady think of that?"

Trump grinned and delivered:

"Oh, I think she'll be okay with it. somehow."

The room chuckled, but the message was clear.

Elon Musk is not just a fanboy

Musk's affection wasn't just a random outburst. The tech mogul had already portrayed himself as a major Trump ally, pouring over $100 million into Republican causes, showing up at campaign rallies, and spearheading policy changes.

Under Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE)—you know things are getting serious when meme culture meets actual governance.

DOGE has gained access to sensitive federal records, the Social Security system for distributing social security checks, and others.

The Time cover: Musk takes over the Oval Office

Time magazine's current cover showed him sitting at the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office. Inside, the magazine's cover story, "Inside Elon Musk's War on Washington," painted an image of a man with a handle on power that had one thing going for him: no board of directors.

The actual article asserted, "Millions of government workers find themselves at Musk's mercy," with Musk answering to precisely one person—Trump.

As reporters asked the President what he thought of the cover, he allegedly replied:

"Is Time Magazine still in business? I didn't even know that."

However, social media has a different opinion. One user called the latest tweet by Musk regarding Trump a concern over the Time cover when they wrote:

"He's worried about that Time cover. For good reason I suspect…"

DOGE’s mission, according to Musk, was all about trimming government fat, but not everyone was thrilled. His plans to dismantle agencies like the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Department of Education had critics raising eyebrows.

Trump, however, was all in, hailing Musk as the ultimate government efficiency guru, unearthing fraud, corruption, and—allegedly—entire departments that nobody even knew existed.

The President was quoted as saying by The Hill:

"He's finding tremendous fraud and corruption and waste. You see it with the USAID, but you're going to see it even more so with other agencies and other parts of government."
"He's got a staff that's fantastic, he's wanted to be able to do this for a long time."

Are Trump and Musk onboard over everything?

Trump recently unveiled the Stargate initiative– a $500 billion artificial intelligence venture between OpenAI, Softbank, Oracle, and MGX. Private investors are free to drench cash into AI centers over the next four years.

Musk was seemingly unimpressed by that. He took a shot at the initiative suggesting that it's underfunded and went on to warn that it could turn into an AI monopoly for OpenAI.
