Elizabeth Olsen, the actress behind Wanda Maximoff (Scarlet Witch) in the MCU, was absent from the latest Avengers: Doomsday cast announcement. Given her massive fan base, fans are demanding her return.
Elizabeth Olsen has a huge role in the MCU, and fans weren't pleased to see her missing in such a big project. In a recent The Hollywood Reporter interview, the actress mentioned that she's working on other projects, such as Seven Sisters, and won't return to Marvel anytime soon.
But fans are not believing her—they're still calling for her return. On the other hand, some fans believe this is just a trick by the studio to keep the best reveal for last.
Avengers: Doomsday released its cast yesterday, and among the biggest things was Robert Downey Jr.'s return—but not as Iron Man, rather as Doctor Doom. Also, veteran X-Men actors Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart are reprising their Magneto and Professor X roles, respectively.
Fans are unhappy that Elizabeth Olsen isn't included in Avengers: Doomsday, although others still suspect she may appear later.
Still, since there's no word from the producers about her coming back, fans aren't holding their breaths.
On the other hand, social media is filled with jokes, memes, and GIFs as people laugh hilariously about not seeing her in the movie. Humor goes a long way when expressing sadness.
Social media reacts as Elizabeth Olsen was not announced as a part of Avengers: Doomsday
Some fans think she might still return and anxiously wait for the upcoming cast announcement in Avengers: Doomsday, hoping to hear good news. But all this waiting is turning out to be amusing now.
A user @ladidaix jokingly said:
"She’s not in it or 👀👀👀"
Another user, @da3neryys, declared:
"movie will tank. we want wanda."
A user @allstars_hub went on to say:
"Olsen hasn’t confirmed her return, and Marvel may be keeping it a secret."
One user @allurequinn thinks:
"it will be a surprise and we all gonna gag."
Fans believe Marvel messed up Avengers: Doomsday by reviving most of the strongest characters but omitting the one they simply had to include—Wanda. Others indicate that Wanda was a massive cash cow for the studio, so it wouldn't make sense for them to exclude her.
A user, @horejsiii, poked fun at Marvel Studios:
"They brought back everyone except the most powerful Avenger… make it make sense."
Another user @Emanfatii opined:
"We lost horribly idk wats going through their heads like wanda isn't their biggest money maker rn."
And then, when words fell short, fans resorted to humorous GIFs!
One user posted a GIF humorously suggesting that if she's not in it, they might as well scrap it.
Another user is at least expecting a movie of her own, if not this.
A user shared a GIF that was the equivalent of a virtual facepalm.
Yet another user posted a GIF that probably said what is even happening.
And then there was Wanda meme herself, suggesting how dare they?
A user hilariously suggested:
"Just throw the whole marvel franchise away atp."
Wanda Maximoff's origin story began in Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) and concluded with her demise in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022).
