During his interview with Son Suk-hee at the tv show Son Suk-hee Questions, Bong Joon-he revealed that the reason he wanted to make an animated film about deep-sea creatures is because he is curious with the deep-sea creatures being isolated and lonely to the world, but becomes excited when National Geographic or BBC goes underwater to film them.
But wait, this is not the full plot of the director's deep-sea film because according to him, it's just the beginning of the movie! So we'll have to wait for another interview to know the whole story.
