Rejoice, anime fans, because Devil May Cry has officially been renewed for a second season in record time! The series just debuted on Netflix this month, and it got off to such a sensational start that the suits decided that they had seen enough, greenlighting the anime for another season, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

While the details of the upcoming season are yet to be disclosed, the news was met with great fanfare on social media and sparked a wave of hilarity from anime fans.

Hilarious fan reactions to Devil May Cry getting renewed for Season 2

As the fans were still reeling from the aftermath of the first season, the news that Devil May Cry had been given another season on Netflix so quickly, no less, had fans buzzing again. The news hit them like a ton of bricks as fans were in disbelief at the swiftness of the announcement.

The anime is loosely based on Capcorn's critically acclaimed video game but has already been in the eye of a storm for straying too far from the material source. The reactions to the news were a mixed bag, with many fans still not able to gloss over the fact that the adaptation was turned into a slapstick comedy.

While some fans welcomed the creative decision, others were a bit skeptical and threw a tantrum, dissing creator Adi Shankar for his involvement:

Although Season 1 was a huge success, it still upset the Devil May Cry purists, who threw a hissy fit at the anime adaptation. Netflix, to iron out the differences and unite the fandom in a big group hug, announced another season of the anime, and that's when all hell broke loose. What followed was a roast-a-thon of epic proportions as everybody came into the line of fire:

"This is why I canceled my Netflix subscription", mocked one fan (via X / @mr_kemy)
"This is the type of adaptation for people who don't wash their teeth", trolled another (via X / @IAmTheTypeOf)

Devil May Cry Season 1 for those who’ve been living under a rock, was a certified banger and helped the anime build a loyal fanbase. It was not all doom and gloom on social media as fans came in defense of their beloved franchise - X timelines were buzzing like a swarm of bees as fans celebrated the event like Christmas had come early:

"Peak anime is back. Reload your hype.", exclaimed one fan (via X / @XplorFeed)

Another fan, while praising the anime, sarcastically asked Capcom to wake up from its slumber and release Devil May Cry 6:

"Watched Half of Season 1 and it was pretty dope. Definitely will take a Season 2. Now if we somehow get a new game… 15-30 years perhaps"

In another hilarious incident, Twitch streamer Asmongold recently found his tooth-free lookalike in Devil May Cry:

Devil May Cry is a gift that keeps on giving! Was it a freaky coincidence, or did the creators knowingly design the character on Asmongold? We will never know.

The news of the anime series getting the go-ahead for the second season sent the internet into a tailspin. While Devil May Cry, the video game, is the stuff of legends, the anime still has some ways to go to reach that level of fandom. Judging from its exceptional start, it is certainly on the right track! We can't wait to see what demonic madness Netflix has in store for the second season.
