Adele has gone viral many times for many reasons, and not all of it was in her favor. One of the most notable examples of this, however, is the meme of her sitting courtside at an NBA game, looking HELLA annoyed. The British singer, albeit expressionless, emits a wildly disinterested, almost irritated vibe, catching the attention of many.

As reported by Daily Dot, the meme has since gone viral as a reaction image, and while it can be traced back to an instance from February 2022, it has since been used hundreds, if not thousands, of times. Per the outlet, it peaked in popularity that same year in March, and as for its source, it stems from X user @NBAonTNT's account.

Adele claims the meme was deliberate, here's why:

Per the Daily Dot, Adele was seen at the 2022 NBA All-Star game dated February 20, 2022, which she went to with her boyfriend Rich Paul. The singer, while typically warm and welcoming, seemingly ignored the camera-- which was visibly in her face.

It wasn't long before the image went viral-- almost two months to be exact-- though it took two years for the Easy On Me singer to acknowledge it herself. During a Las Vegas residency show this February, the singer asked her crowd one thing:

"Do you remember that viral meme of me looking like I don’t give a flying f***?”

She went on:

"It sounds crazy, but I really don’t like being famous, right? So, obviously, I know I’m sitting courtside at a basketball game, you’re asking for it, whatever. Rich is working the room, talking to players. And I was fine. I was just there on my own looking for Michael Jordan, if I’m honest.”

As reported by Billboard, at the time, Adele revealed that Cleveland’s Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse's camera crew came up to her twice when she was sitting alone to ask if it was okay to film her. She denied both times, and her wishes were ignored anyway.

"The people with the camera came and asked me twice. They were like, ‘Do you mind if we film you? Can we put you on the screen?’” they supposedly told her. She went on, noting that she was "very annoyed because I had asked not to be filmed."

She claims to have been blindsided, as she didn’t realize they were airing it on TV.” In response, she began pouting.

“I was sulking," she noted. “I was like, ‘These motherf–kers have come back and are filming me against my will. Also, my face is just very memeable,” she added. “I can’t help it.”

During the show in Las Vegas this February, Adele also took the time to shut down all of the rumors suggesting she may have gone under the knife. The Hello singer dismissed such claims, noting that she doesn't "need" any work done.
