Avengers: Doomsday has become one of the hottest topics among moviegoers, as they eagerly await the return of their favorite superheroes in 2026 - especially Robert Downey Jr., who is set to take on a new role, this time as the main villain, Dr. Doom. As the franchise gears up for its next installment, fans have just learned an interesting fact about actress Carrie Coon, who portrayed the villain Proxima Midnight in 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War.

While recently appearing on The Ringer’s The Big Picture podcast, Carrie Coon's husband, Tracy Letts, revealed that Coon declined to return as Proxima Midnight in Avengers: Endgame after Marvel informed her that they wouldn’t be offering a higher fee. He recalled the studio’s stance as essentially saying that she should feel fortunate to be part of the Marvel Universe. The revelation has surprised fans and sparked curiosity as to what really went on behind the scenes.

Hilarious Fan Reactions

The news left fans' curiosities piqued, as they took to the internet to share their hilarious reactions.

"It's a cgi character with like 3 lines," a user pointed.

This user seems puzzled as to why Carrie Coon would ask for more money from Marvel, considering her character was mostly CGI and had limited screen time in the film. Or perhaps, the amount offered was just too low?

"Does it count as 'played' when Proxima Mid was like 95% CGI," wondered another.

As this fan suggests - does it really count as “played” when Proxima Midnight was about 95% CGI? Or should it be called “stood” instead, since all you have to do is stand in front of a motion capture sensor?

Well, it sure seems like Coon is doing just fine, especially since she has a big role in the third season of White Lotus, one of the most successful shows in the world!

"Man pay this lady she played the hell out of this role," a user wrote.

This fan really wishes Marvel had paid Carrie Coon more, as he's convinced she would’ve absolutely crushed the role, given her stellar reputation as a performer.

"Would honestly like to know how much she was offered," commented another.

So how much did Marvel actually offer Carrie Coon? And how much more was she asking for? This user needs to know...strictly for research purposes, of course!

The revelation that Carrie Coon turned down Avengers: Endgame due to low compensation has certainly surprised fans - especially since Marvel isn’t exactly short on cash. Now the real question circling the internet is: will she make a surprise return as Proxima Midnight in Avengers: Doomsday?
