The first look at Mortal Kombat 2 is finally here, and fans have a lot to say. Unfortunately for Warner Bros., most of those things aren’t exactly flattering. The main target? Martyn Ford’s Shao Kahn, who has already been compared to everything from LEGO villains to forgotten action figures.

Excitement should be through the roof with the movie hitting theaters on October 24. Instead, the internet has turned the reveal into a comedy roast session. Because, of course, they did.

Martyn Ford as Shao Kahn in Mortal Kombat 2: The Look That Launched a Thousand Memes

When Warner Bros. dropped the first image of Martyn Ford suited up as Shao Kahn, they probably expected hype. What they got was a comment section full of people questioning their life choices.

The most viral reaction came when one user pointed out the uncanny resemblance between Ford’s Shao Kahn and LEGO Ninjago’s Lord Garmadon. And honestly? They have a point. The helmet, the armor, the general “I look like a boss fight in a mobile game” energy it all lines up.

Another fan summed up their confusion with:

"I didn’t think the first Mortal Kombat was that great. Why make a second one?"

Brutal. Not as brutal as an uppercut into a spiked pit, but still.

Revealing a new villain should strike fear into fans’ hearts. Instead, Shao Kahn’s reveal has sparked a mix of horror, laughter, and desperate pleading.

One user kept their hopes (and fingers) up, saying:

"Please don’t be a robot. Please don’t be a robot 🤞."

This is a reasonable concern, considering the Mortal Kombat franchise’s history of questionable CGI. No one wants another weird, half-human, half-computer-generated disaster.

Others weren’t as optimistic. One unimpressed fan put it bluntly:

"Are you f**ing kidding me? THIS is what we get???"

That sound you hear? It’s decades of Shao Kahn fans collectively sighing.

Meanwhile, another user took a more scientific approach:

"I think I need a bit more light before I can decide whether or not I like this."

Translation: Warner Bros., please release a better picture before we make up our minds or more memes.

Then, there were the fans who have fully embraced the chaos. One person simply said:

"I’m in."

A true warrior. No hesitation. No doubts. Just pure, blind commitment to whatever madness Mortal Kombat 2 throws their way.

Despite the online roasting, there’s still hope. The first Mortal Kombat movie had its fair share of flaws, but it delivered the over-the-top fights fans expected. If Mortal Kombat 2 leans into that energy, it might just pull through.

But for now, the internet has spoken. And their verdict? Shao Kahn looks less like the feared ruler of Outworld and more like something you’d find in the discount bin at a toy store.

Only time will tell if the movie can prove them wrong. Or, at the very least, if Shao Kahn can win back some dignity before release day.
