In a bout that can only be described as nothing short of a classic thriller, Gervonta Davis vs. Lamont Roach Jr. ended in a sensational draw. The fight was a classic movie bout with Davis being the undefeated champion with a long legacy and Roach Jr. being the underdog whose only goal was to knock his opponent out.
Right from the get-go, Roach Jr. showed why he was called the 'The Reaper.' He maintained his dominance and landed 112 out of 400 punches. Davis, on the other hand, stayed true to his nickname, 'The Tank' and held the fort right till the last bell. He landed 103 punches out of 400.
Right till the last minute, it was hard to figure out who the actual winner was, and perhaps this is what the judges thought too. That's why, despite all the hard punches and swift blocks, they scored the fight as a draw.
Two out of three judges gave an even score of 114-114, but then there was one judge who wanted to stand out, edged it to Davis, and gave a score of 115-113.

As soon as the verdict was out, Gervonta Davis knew that he @#$%^^ up because now there was a small blemish on his spotless record. He entered the fight with a 30-0 and left with. 30-0-1. What made it worse was he also lost a $250,000 bet with Roach Jr. where he promised to knock him out.
At the ceremonial weigh-in on Friday, Davis mocked Roach Jr. by saying,
"I'm going to stop you! Want to bet?"
Roach, who seemed confident in himself, replied with
"250K."
Both the fighters shook each other's hands, and Davis added,
"Bet! I'm going to stop him, watch!"
And then it didn't go as he planned. Roach Jr. fought Gervonta Davis till the last bell and made it an even fight.
