The trailer for Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning finally dropped on Monday. The two-minute clip was packed with action, to no one’s surprise, featuring Tom Cruise as his death-defying character Ethan Hunt once again — hanging off a plane, jumping off another into the ocean, explosions, and much more. Set for a May 23rd release this year, the movie will be the eighth and final installment of the nearly 30-year-old behemoth film franchise.
Soon after the trailer dropped, Tom Cruise took to his social media accounts to share a poster of the upcoming film. Captioned, “It’s all come to this. Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. May 23, 2025,” the poster featured the 62-year-old action star hanging off an upside-down plane. The image left Cruise’s fans highly impressed, with many praising the actor’s dedication to his craft even in his 60s.
Hilarious Fan Reactions
While many fans were impressed by the poster, some were quite amused by Cruise pulling off these wild stunts at his age and took to the comments section to share their hilarious thoughts on it.
"Bro, every mission has been possible, what are you on about?!" a fan pointed.
A common question among fans — why name all the films Mission: Impossible? Because Tom Cruise’s character keeps proving otherwise by making every mission possible. Maybe it’s time to rename the films to Mission: Almost Possible or Mission: Not That Impossible?
"Is it the final final reckoning? Or will there be more reckonings after this one, like more final final ones?" asked another.
As this user suggests, is Mission: Impossible – Final Reckoning truly the last film of the franchise? Or will there be a Final Final Reckoning or maybe even an Actually Truthfully Final Reckoning?
Hardcore stunts! (via @TheStudentReal / X)
Uh-oh, looks like this user just paused the trailer at a moment that doesn't exactly capture Tom Cruise at his best. Let’s hope the actor doesn’t see it — or else Ethan Hunt might just come after the user!
"I wonder what happened to the rumors about you flying a SpaceX Crew Dragon Capsule to space?" a fan wondered.
There were rumors of Tom Cruise flying a SpaceX Crew Dragon Capsule to space for Mission: Impossible – Final Reckoning, but that didn’t seem to be shown anywhere in the trailer. Does that mean we might just get a surprise in the film?
"Poster looks so fake, badly edited. Man size & plane size ratio is not matching. Change it soon," wrote another.
This user sure has the most microscopic eye for detail, believing the photo is fake because the man-to-plane size ratio doesn't match. We might just need Tom to clear the air about this.
Tom Cruise has done it yet again, proving that 60 is the new 16 with his death-defying stunts. Well, only a few more days to go until the movie drops! Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning releases worldwide on May 23rd.
