Now that the anger and dismay of Luka Doncic and Dallas Mavericks fans have somewhat subsided, the Dallas Mavericks CEO, Rick Welts, broke his silence after the trade, and he admitted that he underestimated the supporters' reactions when the Luka Doncic trade happened.

An account on X (via @LegionHoops/X) posted how Rick Welts did not see the fans being this upset, apparently.

Dallas Mavericks CEO Rick Welts breaks his silence

According to his interview with Brad Townsend of the Dallas Morning News, the new Dallas Mavericks CEO thought that he had seen and experienced everything in his 47 years of working at the NBA, so he thought that the Luka Doncic trade would just be easily forgotten by the Dallas Mavericks fans, and boy, was he wrong.

The Dallas Mavericks fans are still mad about the Luka Doncic trade! And it does not look like that will die down soon.

The lesson of the Rick Welts story? Always listen to your fans and supporters, especially if the higher-ups are doing crucial changes in the team. Remember, there will be no team if there are no fans who support them from the start.
