Andrew Garfield recently revealed in an interview that he would be willing to step back into the role of Spider-Man, sending the internet into raptures in the process. It's fair to say that Sony fumbled the big time with Andrew's movies, and his cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home reminded the audience of the immense potential the Amazing Spider-Man had.

Fans have been clamoring for his return ever since, and he has added fuel to the fire by teasing the possibility of another reunion.

Andrew Garfield's latest statement sends fans into a frenzy

Since Spider-Man is not slated to appear in Avengers: Doomsday, rumors have been rife that we could get a giant multiverse crossover akin to the one we got in No Way Home. And Andrew Garfield's latest statement provided enough ammo for fans to launch a speculation frenzy on the internet as he practically recited what fans have been saying over the years, word for word.

In light of his statements, social media has been abuzz with theories, with fans planning grand, elaborate entrances for the Amazing Spidey. Although there has been no confirmation from either Sony or Marvel, that didn't stop fans from pitching in with ideas of their own:

"Bring him out in Doomsday, as a version of him that went crazy after Gwens death and got the Symbiote", quipped one fan (via X / @JoeRikerEvans)
"Give this man a multiverse noir mystery or a trippy indie Spidey flick. He’d crush it. We’re so ready for weird!", added another (via X / @WrittenByES)
"They should adapt the ultimate universe as a tv show and make him play ultimate spiderman. Just saying", commented another fan

Andrew Garfield returning as Spider-Man is a yearly tradition that fans love to play with. Not that the actor himself has expressed his wishes, theories are running rampant on the manner of his reintroduction to the Spider-verse. While some fans speculated that he may be returning in Spider-Man 4, others earmarked the date of his return as early as Avengers: Doomsday.

But the news had its fair share of skeptics as well, with some fans dismissing the prospect in one go:

"He’s great but that ship sailed a while ago", remarked one fan (via X / @sophiebbx)
"Just let it go my bro", trolled another (via X / @debayo_xx)

There's still so much left to explore with the Amazing Spider-Man franchise, since his tenure was cut short by studio politics. A lot has changed since then, with Marvel's newfound love for the multiverse now being a thing. Surely, they have room for one more Amazing Spider-Man adventure in any of the infinite multiverses?

After all, anything can happen in the multiverse, right? Fans were really optimistic about the prospect of watching Andrew Garfield hanging upside down from the walls again as they pinned all their hopes on the multiverse bailing them out:

"Secret Wars is about to come up. They’re gonna need all the help they can get", one fan chimed in (via X / @AngleoBoud97739)

Another fan quipped that Andrew coming back was already a done deal, and he was just trolling the masses:

"Buddy trying to reverse psych us again We KNOW you’re in secret wars bud"

He may be onto something here- after all, Andrew Garfield has a history of playing dumb with the fans. If his previous actions are anything to go by, he could already be locked in for Avengers: Secret Wars.

Andrew Garfield's admission sparked off a wave of hilarity on social media as fans flooded the internet with memes and petitions. Fans have pinned all their hopes on the multiverse because that’s where this whole “Garfield comeback” idea lives rent-free.

While it remains to be seen if he will come back to reprise the role of Spider-Man, we can certainly hope that it's around the corner. Because surely, Sony, or maybe Marvel, has to realize at some point in the future that they are sitting on a potential goldmine!
