The Academy has thrown its fans a curveball by announcing that the Best Original Song nominees won't perform at this year's ceremony. Live renditions of some of the best songs of 2024 will not have the privilege of being performed at Hollywood's biggest night.

Maybe Ryan Gosling's I'm Just Ken from last year's ceremony has set a benchmark that no one can match anymore.

There will be no spontaneous Best Original Song nominees' performances that will hypnotize everyone in the audience to dance. Instead, there will be a two-hour graduation ceremony with everyone receiving an award. The speeches need to be entertaining this year. The only thing that can make the ceremony interesting is if someone announces the wrong winner again.

Among all the Best Original Song nominees, the news must have been tough on many Ariana and Selena fans, who might have hoped to see their favorite artists live on stage after a long absence.

According to the Academy CEO Bill Kramer and President Janet Yang, instead of the Best Original Song nominees performances, they are planning to give space to the creators of the song. He said;

"We will celebrate their artistry through personal reflections from the teams who bring these songs to life."
" All of this, and more, will uncover the stories and inspiration behind this year's nominees."
