Amazon has placed a last-minute bid to acquire TikTok. This came after TikTok was again in the crosshairs for a ban within the US. The social media app has been instructed to sell its US business to an American entity or face a lifetime ban on account of security issues attributed to its parent company, ByteDance.
The New York Times reported that Amazon wrote a letter to U.S. Vice President JD Vance and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick with an offer to purchase TikTok. Still, some involved in negotiations do not believe Amazon's offer to be serious.
Users soon began making amusing hypotheses. Some humorously speculated that soon enough, they'd be shopping for TikTok items straight from Amazon, while others claimed that Jeff Bezos is just probing waters and isn't really serious.
A few even made jokes about him buying TikTok using "monopoly money."
While some are concerned about the type of advertisements that will begin appearing on their For You Page, others are joking that they had forgotten TikTok was even being banned.

Users joked that the TikTok Shop is going to become even wilder if Amazon acquires it. Some mocked Jeff Bezos, claiming he's just feeling the waters to make TikTok a greater marketplace for selling Amazon products.
Others jokingly speculated that their TikTok feed would soon be divided—50% trending videos and 50% individuals attempting to sell something from Amazon.

"the TikTok shop videos gonna multiply by 10😭"
Another user @metansangames joked:
"Bezos about to turn TikTok into the next Amazon Marketplace."

Customers joked that Amazon delivery drivers would soon request customers to perform a TikTok trend before delivering their packages. Others chuckled, saying that when they buy something from Amazon, they may be sent a trending dance tutorial as well.
A user @Blkeddie412_ humorously noted:
"That will be crazy I offer 33 cents."
Another user @CeejayCrypto_ joked:
"Imagine ordering a package on Amazon and getting a dance tutorial with it. Jeff really out here buying vibes now."
A user @tsmolz reacted with a pun:
"The deal looks prime."
A user @whatRanjuSaid jokingly said:
"They gonna add dance challenges for me to do in front of my delivery driver if I want that package."
Meanwhile, some users were so caught up in everything else that they forgot the ban was even happening. They joked that they had almost completely forgotten about it until now.
A user @betaghostTV went on to say:
"i forgot the ban was still happening."
Another user @busncuy added:
"Damn. I forgot about the ban 🤣"
Meanwhile, a user @FbtPanthers said:
"I’ll throw in a few quarters hope it helps."
TikTok is threatened with a potential ban in the U.S. due to its Chinese ties. The U.S. government is demanding that the app be sold to a firm that is not Chinese-based to address security issues.
TikTok has until April 5 to secure a new buyer, or it will be banned.
