A new ‘Starship Troopers’ movie is happening, fans have one thing to say: “We don’t need a new one”

Starship Troopers fans, gather around! We are getting another movie soon, according to social media buzz. Fans of the first movie are having the time of their life, but those who want the classic to be left alone without any further sequels are taking playful digs at the recent chatter.

As the buzz of the new Starship Trooper movie being under development hit the internet, a very well-known question resurfaced. Netizens were spotted asking, "Do we even need this?" Let us just say the reaction was perfectly in line with when a family gathering gets planned, and we join them reluctantly, knowing fully well we will regret the decision.

Fans of the old film are found hesitant and asking themselves if they are ready for round two of bugs, space suits, and the overly dramatic dialogue that made the original film a cult classic. Like any sequels or re-attempts at the classic, this, too, was met with a collective eye roll and a dash of humor in the social media comment section.

The original Starship Troopers (considered a classic nowadays) movie of 1997 was directed by Paul Verhoeven and was loosely based on a 1959 sci-fi novel by Robert A. Heinlein.

The movie instantly became a hit (now considered a cult) due to multiple factors. Fans praise the film for its campy humor, satirical commentaries, and innovative special effects (of course, you can raise your brow over it now, but back in 1997, it literally made lots of sci-fi lovers go berserk!)

Will this upcoming version include awkward CGI that looks worse than our dad’s attempts at online gaming? Or will it be one of the poster-worthy solid bangers? Are we ready for round two of 'detour to strange landscapes to make over-ambitious adventures' or 'giant bugs chasing us to death'? Well, there are too many, but we will leave it up to when the movie hits theatres to search for answers.
