A Minecraft Movie plot
A Minecraft Movie is a rollercoaster fueled by nostalgia, pandemonium, and absolutely no physics.
It begins with Steve, who simply wanted to mine in peace but finds himself instead with an Orb, a dog named Dennis, and beef with a Nether warlord who despises creativity (so essentially your least favorite group project member).
Flash forward to the 1980s, where Garrett "The Garbage Man" Garrison- yes, that's his real name- accidentally wins a portal to block world at a storage auction, because why not?
From there, things build quicker than a creeper at bedtime: jetpack accidents, mushroom mansions, flying ghasts, and a climactic showdown that features an army of iron golems and many emotional twists.
A Minecraft Movie cast
If you thought A Minecraft Movie couldn't possibly get crazier, hold your breath when you hear who's on the cast list.
Steve is played by Jack Black as a war-weathered Overworld craftsman with the restlessness of an energy drink-fueled sorcerer. Jason Momoa, on the other hand, is Garrett "The Garbage Man" Garrison, and it just goes to show that even Aquaman gets side quests in Idaho.
Emma Myers plays Natalie, the big sister attempting to stay sane amidst portals and petting zoos, which are run by Danielle Brooks as Dawn, a real estate baron and traveling goat wrangler.
Jennifer Coolidge appears as a vice principal, likely one wrong turn from becoming a potion-making witch.
Add in YouTuber cameos, Jens Bergensten as a Minecraft waiter, and a pig in a crown in tribute to Technoblade, and you have a movie so meta that it more or less constructs itself.
While critics gave the movie a side-eye, audiences clearly said, 'Shut up and take our cobblestone,' rewarding the film with enough love to keep it mining box office gold. A B+ is not that bad! Based on this pace, the working title for the sequel can just as well be Minecraft 2: The Grade Went Up.
