The worlds of superheroes and blocky adventures are colliding in the most unexpected way. A five-minute extended preview of James Gunn’s Superman will play before screenings of Minecraft: The Movie, and the internet has some thoughts.

While both movies are highly anticipated in their own right, the decision to pair them up has left people scratching their heads. Is this a genius marketing move or just a bizarre coincidence? Either way, fans are having a field day reacting to it.

The Internet Reacts to the Wild Superman-Minecraft

Crossover

When news broke that Superman would get a five-minute preview before Minecraft, the internet did what it does best question everything and make memes about it. The post quickly went viral as fans tried to make sense of this marketing strategy (or lack thereof).

Some see the logic: Superman appeals to a broad audience, and Minecraft is one of the biggest gaming franchises in the world. Others, however, are completely baffled. Why Minecraft? Why five minutes? Why does this feel like one of those random YouTube ad pairings that make no sense but you just roll with it?

A user summed up the confusion perfectly:

"This is such a bizarre combo and yet… it kinda makes sense?"

You know it’s a weird crossover when even the internet can’t decide whether it’s brilliant or completely unhinged.

Of course, no major pop culture moment is complete without Twitter (or X, if you're fancy) turning it into a comedy show.

One fan pointed out what many were thinking:

"This man on the left betrayed Marvel."

It's true seeing David Corenswet don the cape after fans had speculated about him joining the MCU for years does feel like a little betrayal. But hey, at least he’s flying high.

Another user wasn’t impressed with the duration:

"Surely 5 minutes is a bit too long?"

Five minutes in internet time is basically an eternity. Some fans even joked they’d be able to scroll through their entire TikTok feed and still catch the end of it.

Then there’s one user, who had their business hat on:

"That’s a MASSIVE promotion deal."

True. If nothing else, Warner Bros. is making sure Superman gets the exposure it needs. Even if it means forcing every Minecraft-loving kid (and their parents) to sit through a trailer that’s practically a short film.

But not everyone is thrilled. A user had a less-than-enthusiastic take:

"Yet another reason to not watch this midcraft movie."

Ouch. Minecraft fans are a passionate bunch, and some aren’t too happy about their beloved game’s movie adaptation already getting overshadowed before it even hits the screen.

And of course, there’s always that one person hoping it’s all a joke. One person asked the big question:

"April fools right? Pls?"

Sorry, buddy. This is happening. No take-backs.

At the end of the day, this crossover might just be one of those odd pairings that make zero sense on paper but somehow work. Whether fans love it or hate it, one thing’s for sure it's got people talking.

Now, all we need is for Superman to make a cameo in the movie as a blocky NPC, and the circle will be complete.
