The trailer for 28 Years Later is out now. It is the third installment in the series after 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later. The upcoming film will present a startling glimpse of a world still reeling from the lethal Rage Virus.

The film is set nearly 30 years after the first virus outbreak. The trailer reveals that the world remains under complete lockdown. Survivors are forced to exist in a world full of infected human beings who are feral and enraged.

The narrative in 28 Years Later centers around a band of survivors who reside on a small island. The island is only accessible by one treacherous road that connects it to the mainland.

Their quiet existence is disrupted when one person exits the island. This results in new threats. Not only from mutated humans, but also from other humans who have transformed in other frightening ways.

Even though the audience is completely glued to this one, they still managed to crack a few jokes here and there.

Fans have become wary of the recent flood of sequels, remakes, and reboots, so it's no wonder that they're holding their breath for 28 Years Later.

The enthusiasm is evident, with fans claiming 28 Years Later would (probably) be a refreshing change from what the film industry has been offering recently to users dropping wholesome GIFs.

The 28 Years Later trailer sends social media into full panic mode

Users are inquiring as to why the 28 Years Later trailer was released in the middle of the night. Even though there are different time zones, you won't get the same adrenaline rush from a scary movie in the middle of the day, would you?

Some netizens, meanwhile, are optimistic that this won't be yet another movie that only throws zombies and pointless viruses in and calls it a day.

A user @antonkriening jokingly asked:

"Is there a reason they’re releasing this in the middle of the night."

Another person @Dieggo hopefully mentioned:

"28 YEARS LATER? Next level sequel! Hope it’s more original than those 'let's throw zombies in anything' scripts 😂🧟‍♂️"

Some people have genuinely developed sequel fatigue. These days, every film that is released is either a remake, a reboot, or a sequel to a popular film. In addition to repeatedly producing the same picture, the film industry continues to struggle to do justice to OG movies.

As a result, all other sequels are currently being equally roasted.

A user @annnaxbabyy commented:

"You know what would actually be shocking? A Hollywood movie that isn’t a sequel, reboot, or remake."

One more user, @Caitlynbunni, added:

"Why does every franchise need a sequel? Just let it die already. Let’s see something new for once."

Naturally, a conversation about zombies had to follow. Some people are perplexed as to why individuals keep on running in zombie films.

While it's true that some of us may just give up to skip work the next day, others appear to be really eager to live and therefore run during the entire film.

A netizen @BurnerVS asked:

"Bro how can someone escape these zombies 😭😭😭😭😭"

Another user, @ImStaxkz, humorously noted:

"Honestly I’ll just die because these zombies have sense."

One person, @ShayneStubbs12, wrote

"This is the scariest "Zombie " /Infected Movie Trailer i have seen .... The horror is back !!!!"

Amidst all of this, we saw someone make a GTA 6 joke. It seems like Rockstar cannot catch a breath anytime soon. Well, things might change if they do release it. Till then, bear with us.

Some users expressed their enthusiasm for 28 Years Later, stating that it could top the current offerings from Hollywood.

PS: No Snow White was harmed in this statement.

One user dropped an OG joke:

"We got 28 years later before GTA6 💀."

Another user @Dat_1_ULT said:

"This movie is a huge refresh of everything we’ve had lately definitely excited to see it in theaters."

Alright, let's start with the context. Previously, a poster from 28 Years Later went viral. It included a zombie that resembled Cillian Murphy. Even though practically everyone on the internet thought the actor was returning for the film, the rumors were formally dispelled.

However, the poster has become ubiquitous whenever anything about the film comes up.

A user pointed out:

"They love teasing zombie Cillian in this don’t they."

28 Years Later will be available in the UK and US on June 20, 2025. It is the lead film in a new trilogy. The second one, The Bone Temple, is complete and will be released in January 2026.
