Jeff Torborg, ex-Major League Baseball catcher and manager, passed away at the age of 83 on January 19, 2025. The baseball icon is survived by his wife and three sons, including Doug, Greg, and Dale Torborg. Here's all we know about his sons:

Doug Torborg

Douglas Todd Torborg, Jeff Torborg's firstborn son, was born on October 30, 1964. The Trading Card Database states that he attended North Carolina College. His career highlights as per Baseball Reference are listed below:

Pitching: For 1987 with Watertown (A-), he had a 5-3 record and a 3.14 ERA. For 1989 with Miami, he pitched 150 innings with a 4.74 ERA, and for three seasons, he compiled 272 strikeouts.

Batting: He hit .133 for 1987 with Watertown, but upped that to .333 for 1989 with Miami. Over three seasons, he batted .182 in sporadic work.

Fielding: He fielded in 1987 with Watertown with a.950 percentage. In 1989, he played as an outfielder and pitcher for Miami, fielding perfectly at 1.000 in the outfield.

Last April, he attended the University of North Carolina's 40th anniversary reunion of the 1984 ACC Championship.

Greg Torborg

Greg Torborg graduated from Columbia University in 1990, according to his LinkedIn profile. He graduated with a JD from Fordham University School of Law in 1993. He began working with Gibney, Anthony & Flaherty, LLP in 1993 and remained there until 1998.

Greg founded Samaan & Torborg, LLP in 2009 after working in various capacities for several businesses. According to the company website, the New York-based law firm specializes in corporate transactions and sports law. He's been listed as its partner for the past 16 years.

Dale Torborg

Dale Torborg has a notable career as a professional wrestler and baseball trainer. Born on October 24, 1971, Dale is best known for his wrestling persona as "The Demon," which was inspired by the band KISS.

He has also served as a strength and conditioning coach for several Major League Baseball teams, including the Chicago White Sox, where he worked from 2003 until 2022.

Dale's sports career began with college baseball at Northwestern University, from which he shifted to professional wrestling.

He married Christi Wolf on October 5, 2000. They have one daughter named Sierra Raye, born on August 18, 2005.

Surviving Jeff is his wife, Suzie; his three sons, Doug, Greg, and Dale; daughters-in-law Karen and Christi; four grandchildren—Alexis, Jeffrey, Kelly, and Sierra—and two great-grandchildren—Lane and Lee.

Jeff Torborg had reportedly been suffering from Parkinson's disease since 2010. Confirmation from official sources about the cause of death is yet to be determined.

Torborg played in the majors from 1964 to 1971 both as a player and as a manager. One of the more notable parts of his career was catching Sandy Koufax's perfect game in 1965. During his career, he took part in three no-hitters.

He spent time in the dugout, managed franchises such as the Chicago White Sox, and even produced an impressive 94-68 record while there. In 1990, he won the American League Manager of the Year award.

The Chicago White Sox and most of its past players are mourning Torborg's death. A former player who played under Torborg is Frank Thomas, who took to X to share his condolences:

“RIP Jeff Torborg! You were my first big league manager and I enjoyed playing for you. You gave me a chance to shine right away and I'm very thankful. God Bless the Torborg family.”

Former White Sox player and manager Ozzie Guillen took to X:

“I am heartbroken. My mentor and my friend has passed away. Someone who truly understood me and gave me a chance to lead, to be a captain. So much of my way of managing and being in a clubhouse came from him.”

The Los Angeles Dodgers also released a statement offering condolences to his family and friends, acknowledging his legacy in baseball.

"Jeff Torborg, a defensive standout who caught Sandy Koufax's perfect game and Bill Singer's no-hitter among his 358 games for the Dodgers, has passed away at age 83. The Dodgers offer our sincere condolences to his family and friends."
