Jamie Erdahl signed as a sports broadcaster on NFL Network's Good Morning Football (GMFB) as a co-host in July 2022. She took over from Kay Adams after being the lead Sideline reporter for the SEC on CBS and also providing content on CBS Sports since the year 2014.

Recently, Erdahl paid tribute to broadcaster Greg Gumbel who died on December 27, 2024. He was a well-known figure in sports coverage primarily with CBS Sports as well as a trainer of young talents in the profession.

Erdahl recalled the time they spent together on NFL broadcasts mentioning that he was not only a great coworker but also a great role model for her. She said they coordinated 51 NFL games for three years and said that she relished every moment she had with him.

"Three years with Greg in the booth with Trent Green -- and myself on the sideline -- 51 NFL games we did together…”
“If you ever walked away from interacting with that man, you always thought, 'That guy is legendary.'"

Jamie Erdahl's journey

Erdahl was born and grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She had a passion for sports from a tender age. Jamie Erdahl played basketball and softball for St. Olaf College before transferring to American University to study communications.

This decision was made because she wanted to be nearer to media opportunities. While at AU, she was a host on Eye on the Eagles which was a television program that focused on the university’s sporting activities.

Erdahl has interned in several media houses such as Fox and NBC in Minnesota stations. After her graduation in 2011, she took up an ESPN contracting job as a studio production assistant and contributed to shows such as SportsCenter and Baseball Tonight.

She also started her early career in New England Sports Network (NESN), where she enhanced her career while covering teams such as the Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruin.

Erdahl began working for CBS Sports in 2014 as the lead sideline reporter for SEC college football. Her work involved responsibilities such as high-profile games and events.

Later in July 2022, Jamie Erdahl assumed the host position of the Good Morning Football program, succeeding Kay Adams. This change brought a new dimension in her career and she emerged from sideline reporting into a studio host. Jamie Erdahl described the experience as both challenging and exhilarating appearing on the episode of Her Huddle:

"It has been such a wild ride... I was figuring out an entire new set of skills, new people I was working with."

She underlined that her co-hosts, Peter Schrager and Kyle Brandt made it easier for her to join the show with its energetic tempo.

Some of the difficulties that Jamie Erdahl struggled with included handling the workouts of the studio format mostly when it comes to expressing herself during the programs and gaining confidence in the types of opinions that she presents on air. She remarked on the difference between sideline reporting—where she focused on others—and studio hosting, where she needed to express her own insights:

"I'm still finding my footing... It's such a different way to look at it".

She has emphasized the importance of being open to feedback and learning from experiences:

"Being uncomfortable in being wrong... has been one of the biggest challenges".

As far as her personal life is concerned, Jamie Erdahl has been wedded to Sam Buckman, and the two a blessed with three children. Buckman works at Stryker as a Director of Marketing.
