According to The List, Chelsea Clinton is a mother, wife, philanthropist, and empowered women's rights advocate. Former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's only child, Chelsea began her career with McKinsey & Company and Avenue Capital Group.
She eventually made her foray into the Clinton Foundation, where she served as co-chair and later Vice Chair. She blamed her decision to part ways with her previous job on how taxing it was, after having worked there for three years.
"Was I going to continue to work 100 hours a week and invest time there and energy?" she told The Telegraph of her decision to leave. "Or was I going to go do something else?"
Celebrity Net Worth states that she still serves on the board of the School of American Ballet, as well as the IAC's board of directors. According to The List, she also held a position within Avenue Capital Group when she was 26.
While her exact earnings at the time remain unknown, per the outlet, her starting annual salary was expected to be $100,000. Her first-year bonus could have been as high as $150,000, the outlet reported.
By 2011, Chelsea Clinton made her foray into NBC News where she served as a special correspondent. Per the outlet, she was reportedly earning a staggering $600,000 per year, though official sources declined to comment on the same.
"We don't comment on details of existing contracts," a network spokesperson told Politico. "NBC News continues to enjoy a wonderful working relationship with Chelsea, and we are proud of her work."
She stayed on with the company for three months, during which time she continued to devote her time to the Clinton Foundation and her graduate degrees as well. In February 2012, NBC renewed her contract. It was only in 2014 did she parted ways with the network.
Chelsea Clinton has been serving on the Bill, Hillary & Chelsea Clinton Foundation since 2011. The foundation directs its efforts to improve global health, create opportunities for women, and promote economic growth, Celebrity Net Worth has reported. However, The List has reported that it is unlikely that she accepts any salary from the philanthropic organization.
"I will just always work harder [than anybody else] and hopefully perform better," she said of proving critics wrong, per The List. "And hopefully, over time, I pre-empt and erase whatever expectations people have of me not having a good work ethic, or not being smart, or not being motivated."
Clinton also doubles as a writer, having authored five children's picture books: It's Your World: Get Informed, Get Inspired and Get Going (published in 2015), She Persisted: 13 American Women Who Changed the World (published in 2017), She Persisted Around the World: 13 Women Who Changed History (2018), Start Now!: You Can Make a Difference (2018), and Don't Let Them Disappear: 12 Endangered Species Across the Globe (2019).
She is also known for having written several other books, including Governing Global Health: Who Runs the World and Why? in 2017 and The Book of Gutsy Women: Favorite Stories of Courage and Resilience, which she co-wrote with her mother in 2019. Several of her pieces have also been published in major media houses like CNN.com, Time magazine, Huffington Post, and Refinery 29.
Chelsea Clinton has been making headlines for allegations of accepting millions from USAID, turning the attention to her net worth and earnings. However, the claims have not been confirmed.
