Body camera footage depicting the "hells on wheels" killer Mackenzie Shirilla moments after she plowed down her boyfriend and his friend, ultimately killing him, is going viral online. In it, she can be seen whining about breaking her bracelet instead of the two murders she just committed by ramming her car into a wall.
The clip, dated July 31, 2022, shows a cop walking up to the girl, then 17, as he asks her to step out. He places her under arrest, and as he is doing so, Mackenzie asks him to be careful with her bracelet so that it doesn't break. With tears welled up in her eyes, she tells him:
"Could you please be careful taking this one off so it doesn’t break the bracelet, please?"
The video has been doing the rounds online, drawing the ire of many. Here's what one user pointed out, for example:
"Zero remorse."
The comments didn't end there, as even more weighed in on the gruesome killing:
"Ouch. As a parent this hits hard," someone commented.
"She’s a psychopath and belongs in a cage for way longer than 15 years," another opined.
"No sympathy," a third person echoed.
"I remember when this first happened, I still think she was a few cards short of a full deck. I feel the worst for the families of the 2 guys that were killed. Sad," yet another tweeted.
Even more chimed in:
"The video of Shirilla crying over her bracelet while two families mourn their loved ones is the height of irony," one user opined.
"I remember the video of that. Very hard to watch. Can’t believe she got out alive. She should be in prison for life," someone else demanded.
"Her story and her demeanor in particular, is indicative of a problem we are seeing more and more: young people with zero lack of empathy and Narcissistic behavior. It is, in my opinion, becoming a huge problem & I see it every day," another claimed.
"Dear God I pray my children never have a friend like this," a parent tweeted.
Users online were visibly appalled at witnessing Mackenzie Shirilla's behavior merely minutes after she claimed the lives of two.
All we know about Mackenzie Shirilla's motive for killing
Back in August 2023, a year after the body cam footage was shot, Mackenzie Shirilla was sentenced to two 15-years-to-life sentences simultaneously for the murders of her boyfriend Dominic Russo, 20, and his friend Davion Flanagan, 19, in Strongsville, Cleveland.
At the time, Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge Nancy Margaret Russo referred to the assailant as “literal hell on wheels," the New York Post has reported.
“This was not reckless driving. This was murder,” Russo told the court. “She had a mission, and she executed it with precision … The decision was death. She morphs from a responsible driver to literal hell on wheels as she makes her way down the street,” the judge said.
Security footage depicted Mackenzie Shirilla accelerating the car, a Toyota Camry, at 100 mph. She reportedly killed her boyfriend because their relationship was about to come to an end. While Russo was in the front, Flanagan was in the back. Both of them died on the spot. Shirilla was found unconscious.
At the time, Mackenzie Shirilla had marijuana and THC in her system, though the prosecution decided not to go after her for driving under the influence. She was then hit with and convicted of 12 charges.
