Nuna Baby Essentials, which specializes in child car seats and safety gear, is recalling one of its popular products. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Association, the company is pulling more than 600,000 Rava child seats. However, customers are wondering why the company made this decision.
The reason behind pulling these seats is that the Rava model seats that were made between July 16, 2016, and October 25, 2023, have plastic harness adjuster buttons. However, those seats manufactured after October 25, 2023, have a fabric that covers the harness.
Nuna Baby Essentials therefore received complaints about the loosening of the harness after an investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Association. Moreover, the harness also gets tightened through its adjuster mechanism.
The cause of these harnesses' multifunctioning is debris. Debris enters the area where the harness adjuster button is placed and does not allow the mechanism to work properly.
While there have not been any injuries or fatalities due to the seat so far, the company is pulling the product to prevent any incident from happening during a crash in the future.
Nuna Baby Essentials release a statement about recalling the car seats
Taking to their official website, Nuna Baby Essentials released a statement in which they mentioned their core values. Moreover, they also confirmed that they took this decision voluntarily.
"We take pride that you have chosen our gear to be part of your everyday life with your family, so it’s no surprise that responsibility and dependability are two of Nuna’s core values. We strive to always provide the best, safest gear possible."
"We have initiated a voluntary recall of RAVA models manufactured between July 16, 2016 and October 25, 2023 in which owners will be eligible to receive a new seat pad, cleaning kit, and care instructions to ensure the car seat's harness adjuster is kept clean and working properly."
Nuna Baby Essentials has asked the car seat owners to keep using it if the harness functions properly. However, those who are experiencing a malfunction in their car seat will receive a number of items from the company.
The statement read,
"Owners of Nuna RAVAs manufactured between July 16, 2016 and October 25, 2023 will be eligible to receive a new seat pad, cleaning kit, and care instructions to ensure the car seat's harness adjuster is kept clean and working properly."
Child safety seats are compulsory in all states of the US for traveling with infants and children. However, the guidelines may vary from state to state based on the child's age, height, and weight.
