Longtime Fox News anchor and host Neil Cavuto is all set to leave the network after close to three long decades.
A source revealed to The Independent that Neil Cavuto’s contract is set to end in late 2024 and he decided to leave after turning down a new contract offer. Despite being described as attractive, the proposed deal included a pay reduction for the 66-year-old host. The source also mentioned that changes in the news industry have caused salary cuts across the board.
In a statement, Fox News announced Cavuto's departure. They said:
“Neil Cavuto’s illustrious career has been a master class in journalism, and we’re extremely proud of his incredible 28-year run with FOX News Media. His programs have defined business news and set the standard for the entire industry. We wish him a heartfelt farewell and all the best on his next chapter.”
On his final broadcast, Neil Cavuto bid farewell but assured his audiences that this would not be the end of his career. He also thanked his bosses at Fox News. Cavuto said:
“But I’m not leaving journalism, I’m just leaving here. I’m forever grateful to my bosses here. They have been very good to me these many years and offered a very generous opportunity for me to stay years more.”
As reported by Yahoo News, Donald Trump commented about Cavuto leaving the network by writing:
“GOOD NEWS FOR AMERICA. Should have happened a long time ago.”
Neil Cavuto often criticized Donald Trump time and again on his shows. However, a Fox insider clarified that Cavuto’s exit had nothing to do with Trump or his upcoming return to office.
