Michelle Obama, former first lady, was noticeably absent from the funeral services of former U.S. president Jimmy Carter, which took place on Thursday. The funeral ceremony was attended by all five living former and current presidents of the country, including George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, Donald Trump, and President Joe Biden, as they were joined by their spouses, except Barack Obama, whose wife had been missing at the ceremony.
Jimmy Carter was the longest-living president of the United States, who passed away on December 29, 2024, at the age of 100 in Plains, Georgia. His state funeral services took place on Thursday at the Washington National Cathedral, where President Joe Biden delivered an eulogy to pay tribute to the former president.
As per the reports, former first lady, Michelle Obama, could not attend the funeral as she was on vacation in Hawaii and had scheduling conflicts. Obama's spokesperson confirmed the absence of the former first lady and stated that she sent her thoughts and prayers to the Carter family.
"Mrs. Obama sends her thoughts and prayers to the Carter family, and everyone who loved and learned from the remarkable former president," Obama's spokesperson stated.

"He believed some things were more important than reelection - things like integrity, respect, and compassion. Because Jimmy Carter believed, as deeply as he believed anything, that we are all created in God's image," the statement read partly.
Political leaders from both sides were present at the funeral service to pay their last tribute to Jimmy Carter. Former Presidents Donald Trump and Barack Obama were seen seated beside each other, indulging themselves in a lighthearted conversation before the service began.
