New York Post journalist Jennie Taer shared a glimpse of Shamsud-Din Jabbar’s home. Jabbar was a suspect in the New Orleans truck attack on January 1, 2025, which killed 14 people and injured several others.

According to a post by the media outlet, the suspect lived in a dilapidated trailer in North Houston’s Muslim neighborhood. His neighbors informed Jennie Taer that Shamsud-Din Jabbar left the house hours before the unfortunate incident.

Muntaz Bashir, one of his neighbors, noticed Shamsud-Din Jabbar's new white Ford F-150 Lightning truck, assuming it was rented or purchased for his move to New Orleans.

Jennie Taer showed around the house which was searched by the FBI, and belongings were lying here and there. Netizens shared their reactions on X with one person asking:

“Why is dressed for Planet Fitness?”

Social media users criticized Jennie Taer’s outfits while others asked whether her presence would compromise the scene.

“It significantly adds to the absurdity of this that the reporter showed up to film this unheard of exclusive in yoga pants,” a person commented on X.
“Miraculously theres a whole shelf of Qurans there when most Muslims have 1-3 Qurans in their house maximum,” a social media user noted.
“How does this not disturb a crime scene?” a netizen questioned.

Netizens raised questions about the previous raids while others noted this kind of filming had never been allowed.

“Is it possible that the suspect’s home was already santiized by the FBI?” another X user remarked.
“at this point they’re being so blatant about it im starting to wonder if it’s on purpose,” an online user remarked.
“This has never been allowed. Ever. This is such a rushed job it’s laughable,” an internet user opined.

A look into Jennie Taer’s report of Shamsud-Din Jabbar’s home

At the video's beginning, one could see that the door of the house was destroyed during the FBI raid. Jennie Taer then showed Shamsud-Din Jabbar’s work area which had different chemicals and electronics. She then showed the documents and the search warrant left by the Department of Justice on the kitchen counter.

A list of the chemicals found in the suspect’s house was also kept alongside the warrant. She then showed the collection of religious books like the Quran, an open Quran, and the Bible. Jabbar’s prayer rug was also kept nearby. Jennie Taer also found a lot of contact lenses near one of the bedrooms.

There was another workspace with various chemicals and the lights turned on. In one of her posts on Instagram, Taer alleged that they found a bomb-making workstation in Shamsud-Din Jabbar’s place although it’s unclear which one she was referring to.

When Taer spoke to Muntaz Bashir, he told her that Jabbar was done with his lease and would move out of the place to New Orleans. Moreover, he did not take any furniture with him because his new place would be furnished.

Bashir also told Jennie Taer that Shamsud-Din Jabbar was a quiet person and would not bother anyone. He would not know more about Jabbar as Bashir and his wife mostly stayed busy with their five children.
