David Ace Cannon, a beloved radio personality who co-hosted The Ace & TJ Show for more than two decades, has passed away at the age of 56. Cannon’s abrupt exit from the show in September 2024 had shocked fans, and his absence was followed by a string of personal struggles.
In September 2024, Cannon suddenly abandoned The Ace & TJ Show, a decision that surprised many listeners. The show then did a rebranding as The TJ & Riggins Show, with producer Bryan Riggins Weber taking over as the co-host.
While Cannon offered no explanations at first, according to Inside Radio, he did eventually speak about his leaving in an emotional video posted on Instagram in October 2024, which was later deleted.
Cannon reportedly said in the video that he was thankful for the support he has received from fans and that he was working on personal growth. As a response to his split from the show, and addressing fans, The Ace & TJ Show posted a note on their instagram, stating:
"We have been forced to make big changes quickly and we know we are still going to bring you a quality show."
The TJ & Riggins Show was dealt immediate blows after Cannon’s departure. They even lost their flagship station. However despite these changes, both Ritchie TJ Beams and Weber seemed to carry on with the show, making sure to show their support for Cannon.
News of Cannon's death broke out on February 4, 2025. His demise was confirmed by iHeartMedia’s HITS 96.1. Furthermore, his sister, Piper Wilson, also confirmed the news on social media, requesting prayers for their family. The cause of Cannon’s death has not been stated anywhere.
