On Thursday, January 30, Cleveland-based restaurant EDWINS Too, announced a fundraising dinner dedicated to the US figure skating community.

EDWINS Too, described as “a culinary incubator, community kitchen, event, and makers’ space,” is owned by Brandon Edwin Chrostowski. The chef is known for founding EDWINS Leadership & Restaurant Institute in 2007, a “ 501(c)(3) organization” aimed at providing culinary and hospitality training to “formerly incarcerated adults.”

Chrostowski, who is the CEO, founder, and president of the institute, expanded further with EDWINS – a French restaurant – in Cleveland. EDWINS restaurant opened at Cleveland’s Shaker Square in 2013. The CNN Hero recipient continued expansion by opening a bakery, a butcher shop, and EDWINS Too, which opened on November 20, 2020.

Brandon Chrostowski’s restaurants are also slated to relocate to the Nighttown building in Cleveland Heights. However, before the relocation, his second restaurant is all set to host a fundraising event in February. The fundraiser will honour the figure skating community members who lost their lives in the recent American Airlines plane crash that happened in Washington DC.

The Washington DC plane crash shocked everyone while also impacting many families. The tragic incident also claimed the lives of up to 14 members of the US figure skating community, including the 12-year-old Olivia Ter. The victims were reportedly returning from the US Figure Skating National Development Camp, which was being held in Kansas.

After the unfortunate plane crash, EDWINS Too founder Chrostowski announced a fundraising dinner as he said,

“You heard about the news here with the plane crash. The figure skating community has been rocked by this news and… So we're gonna do something right? So, we have a fundraiser coming up here, February 8th, that's next Saturday, to raise money for the figure skating clubs and the victims of those who are lost in this tragic flight that had crashed over in DC.”

He concluded,

“Let's do something. Let's make something happen! And support those that are going through a really tough time. And let's do it here at EDWINS Too, February 8th, 2025.”

Chrostowski also spoke to 3News (WKYC),

“The culture of figure skaters, man, is just a way of life. And to have that ripped away, I couldn't imagine that being ripped away from my daughter in any way, shape, or form.”

He further added,

“It’s not really about the food and wine, right? It’s about raising funds and raising awareness and find(ing) a way to get involved in this time when it hurts."

The event has been priced at $75, which includes a three-course meal, with a wine pairing. Anyone can make a reservation at edwinsrestaurant.org.
