The Wisconsin police are currently investigating the suspect of the Abundant Life Christian School shooting in order to determine the motive. On Monday, Natalie Rupnow, a teenage girl, opened fire on her fellow students, injuring six people and killing a teacher and another student. According to the authorities, Natalie also died from a "self-inflicting wound" at the shooting.

Following the tragic incident, Madison Police Chief Officer Shon Barnes informed that determining the motive was their main priority as they began investigating Rupnow's social media activities and reached out to her parents. During the investigation, it was revealed that Rupnow had a troubled family life and was also taking therapy to help her figure out the troubles she had been going through.

Who are Natalie Rupnow's parents?

According to court records, Natalie Rupnow's parents, Jeff and Melissa, had a turbulent marital life, which had severely affected Rupnow's childhood. Her parents reportedly got married in 2011; however, they soon got divorced in 2014. During this time, both parents had joint custody of Rupnow, and she would spend time with both of her parents but lived with her mother.

Jeff and Melissa got remarried in 2017, but the marriage did not last long as the couple filed for divorce again in 2020. Rupnow's parents got married for a third time and again filed a divorce in 2021. After the final divorce of the couple, it was decided that Rupnow would live with her father this time. Since her childhood, Rupnow had been shifting back and forth. Natalie had a difficult time due to her parents on-again, off-again marital life.

It was also revealed that Rupnow's mother had previously been married and divorced before marrying Rupnow's father, Jeff, and had another child with a different man.

The turbulent marriage of Rupnow's parents led her to enroll in therapy when she was just 12 years old, in order to determine who she wanted to spend time with during the weekends.

Upon investigating Rupnow's social media activities, it was revealed that her mental health was affected by her troubled family life. Her social media posts echoed themes of violence, death, and societal collapse.

Months prior to the shooting, she began posting destructive things on social media like "The countdown has begun" and "They'll know what I mean when the time comes." An alleged document titled "War Against Humanity," reportedly written by Rupnow, had been circulating on social media.

However, Barnes confirmed that the Wisconsin police have yet to verify its authenticity:

"We have detectives working today to determine where this document originated, and who actually shared it online," he stated.

The authorities further informed that both of Rupnow's parents were cooperating with the police in the investigation.

Wisconsin reportedly ranks 21st in the U.S. for gun safety laws; however, the state does not require any background checks for gun purchases. Following the recent shooting, state representative Mark Pocan addressed the issue on X:

"Thoughts and prayers without action means more school shootings, more dead kids. More ACTION is needed by our elected officials. And more BACKBONE to stand up to gun manufacturers. This is uniquely a United States problem that doesn't have to happen."

The Wisconsin police are still investigating the case and have not yet revealed any further details about the victims' identities or the motive behind the 15-year-old girl's action to open fire at the school.
