Sgt. Shawn Robert of the Lakeville Police Department recently encountered an unusual sight—80 Amazon packages abandoned in a wooded area in Lakeville, Massachusetts, on 22 December, just days before Christmas.
According to People Magazine, during a routine patrol at around 2.00 am, Sgt. Robert discovered "three large totes" full of scattered parcels, still sealed in their familiar Prime-branded boxes. WWLP-22 News released a photo.
Initial observations suggested no foul play but rather an overwhelmed delivery driver who had reached a breaking point amid the seasonal chaos. Faced with tight schedules, relentless deadlines, and complex routes, the driver appeared to have simply given up and left the packages behind.
Thanks to the swift response of the Lakeville Police Department, led by Sgt. Robert, the packages were recovered and returned to the appropriate distribution center. In an official statement, Sgt. Robert clarified that the driver had been identified and would not face charges, acknowledging the intense pressure faced by delivery personnel during the holiday season.
