According to the Associated Press, the 42-year-old West lived in DeForest and worked as a teacher at the school. The school's communication director, Barbara Wiers, revealed that while West was a substitute teacher for the initial three years, she was later promoted as the school's substitute coordinator.

Along with the details about West, Wiers also wrote how the school's officials are mourning the losses.

Wilson further added mentioning how West was a beloved one for everyone at the school.

"She would have done anything for them… I just wish I could’ve gone back and given her a hug."

What role did a California man play in the shooting that killed Erin West?

According to NBC San Diego, a 20-year-old California man communicated with Natalie Rupnow, also addressed as Samantha, the teenager who opened fire at the Wisconsin school. An order obtained by the portal also reveals that the FBI took into custody the man when they discovered he was planning a "mass shooting" with Rupnow.

He had also admitted to the agents that he told Natalie that he would

"arm himself with explosives and a gun and that he would target a government building."
