NBA star Dwight Howard and rapper Amy Luciani recently got engaged amidst abuse allegations against Howard. As per reports, Howard's ex-girlfriend and the mother of one of his sons, Royce Reed, accused him of verbal and physical abuse. She also reportedly created an Instagram account in order to publicly accuse Howard of misconduct and abuse.
In one of the posts, Reed wrote,
"I refuse to go into 2025 carrying this weight so let's go! Imma post the texts and emails too if you keep playing with me and calling my bluff! I know about way more than you think I do so imma leave the initials R.E. to let you know it's ON!," the post read.
However, despite all these allegations, on December 20, Howard and his girlfriend Luciani announced their engagement via Instagram. In the video the couple was seen showing off their engagement ring.
"I was enjoying you so much out of the public eye but here we are. Thank you for bringing me back to the word," she wrote. "I'm just thankful, happy and ready for everything that's coming our way," she added.
Who is Dwight Howard's fiancée, Amy Luciani? Couple got engaged amidst abuse allegations against Howard
Born and raised in Detroit, Amber Rose, AKA Amy Luciani, started her music career in a singing group called Entrance with her sisters. Later, she left the group and moved to Atlanta, where she started her solo career as a rapper and released her first EP in 2023.
Luciani gained fame after her appearance in two consecutive seasons of the reality TV series Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta. Howard and Luciani made several public appearances previously at various events; however, they kept their relationship private until they announced their engagement.
Howard posted a picture with Luciani in a boat with the caption,
"POV: You found your perfect person."
In another post, the couple was seen sitting on a plane, sharing a kiss. In the caption, Luciani wrote,
"After all that...still committed."
Both the pictures were posted after Howard's ex-girlfriend, Royce Reed, accused him of abuse on social media. Reed shared multiple posts on Instagram, describing her past relationship and traumatic experiences with Howard.
According to Reed, during the early stages of her relationship, Howard allegedly cheated on her multiple times and asked Reed for a paternity test after she got pregnant. After the results came positive, the couple briefly rekindled in 2006 after their son Braylon was born.
During this time Howard allegedly abused Reed both verbally and physically. She also stated that Howard allegedly forced her to do things s*xually that made her uncomfortable.
"That's when things started turning verbally and physically, and also mentally abusive. I was told that I was stupid, I was told that nobody would ever want me. I was told that everybody loved him and hated me," she wrote.
Reed further alleged that when her relationship with Howard ended, his lawyers put a gag order against her, banning her from mentioning Howard's name and any details related to him on the Basketball Wives: Miami show.
