Courtney Roker, daughter of legendary NBC weatherman Al Roker, is grieving the loss of her mother, Alice Bell, who died at the age of 77. Bell, who was once a television producer, was Roker's first wife, and the two adopted Courtney during their marriage.

At 36, she had already begun making a name for herself in the culinary arena together with the 'Laga: A Filipino-American Journey Through Food' release in 2023, an inspiring cookbook about Filipino-inspired food with a modern take. It was apparent that a love for food and cooking had been preached in her life, and she continues to share her recipes and experiences.

At 37 years old, Courtney Roker had built an impressive career in the culinary world. According to Today, she currently works as a private chef, but her background includes experience at two Michelin-starred restaurants and Google’s New York City headquarters. In addition to her hands-on work in kitchens, she served as a culinary content manager and lead recipe developer for the appliance brand Chefman.

In 2023, Al Roker and Alice Bell embraced grandparenthood as their daughter, Courtney, and her husband, Wesley Laga, welcomed their first child, Sky.

The following year, Courtney, alongside her husband—a trained chef with experience in Michelin-starred restaurants—collaborated on a cookbook titled 'Al Roker’s Recipes to Live By.'

Relationship between Alice Bell and Al Roker

Alice Bell and Al Roker were married in 1984 and remained together until their divorce in 1994. During their decade-long marriage, they welcomed Courtney Roker into their family through adoption, and despite their separation, both remained active in their daughter's life.

Bell was an accomplished producer at WNBC-TV, known for her work in the media industry. Though she largely stayed out of the spotlight in recent years, her contributions to journalism and television left a lasting impact.

Following Bell’s passing, Courtney took to social media to share an emotional tribute. Though she has not made a lengthy public statement, she wrote:

"She was my mother, my heart, and the most loving grandmother to Sky. I was with her for her last breath, and I will carry her love with me always."

Courtney Roker used to share a close relationship with her mother, as well as her stepmother, which is evidenced by the various posts on her Instagram. In an old post on Mother's Day, she wrote:

Al Roker has also yet to publicly comment on his ex-wife’s passing, but he has always spoken fondly of her, particularly regarding their shared love for Courtney.
