Aaron Miller, a social studies teacher and assistant principal at The Fort Dodge Community School District passed away on Friday, January 10, 2025, due to injuries from a car accident.
Miller began his career at Fort Dodge as a Social Studies Teacher. For almost a decade, he worked with middle school students, helping them understand historical, political, and social concepts. After spending 10 years as a teacher, Aaron Miller was promoted to Assistant Principal at the middle school in June 2024.
Throughout his career, Aaron Miller had also been involved in extracurricular activities, particularly coaching middle school athletics. He coached football and girls' basketball, which allowed him to mentor students outside the classroom and support their physical and personal growth.
In terms of education, Aaron Miller held a Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Education Administration and Leadership from Viterbo University, which he completed in 2023. He also earned a Bachelor of Arts in Social Studies Teacher Education from Bethany Lutheran College in 2012. According to his Facebook profile, Miller was born and lived in Fort Dodge.

Fort Dodge Community School District released a statement after Aaron Miller's passing. It read:
"We understand that this news may be difficult for many of our students and families. To support our students, school counselors and additional support staff will be available to talk with any student who needs assistance processing their feelings or emotions. If your child would like to meet with a counselor, please encourage them to let their teacher know, or feel free to contact the school directly."
Tributes are pouring in from people who knew Aaron Miller. A Facebook user wrote:
"This news hits hard! Aaron Miller was taken from this world way too soon. I was lucky enough to have been around long enough to Coach him, to Coach with him , to watch him become a teacher , and to watch him grow into an administrator role all as a Dodger!"
Another person wrote:
"Things will not be the same without you. Mostly I want Thank you for the impact you gave to this world. We are we lucky to have been apart of your life."
The Grace Lutheran Church at Fort Dodge also shared an update on their Facebook:
"From Pastor Dan..... It is with a broken heart that I inform you that Aaron Miller, son of Ellyn Lemke and Dennis Miller and brother to Jordan Miller, teacher, administrator, coach, friend died in a single-car accident early this morning. Aaron is an organ donor so arrangements are pending."
Dennis L Miller, Aaron Miller's father took to his Facebook to share a series of posts honoring his son. He wrote:
"You will be missed by many….. but your brother and I will miss our SUPER SPELLER ! RIP my favorite BLUE EYED SON! Bushel and a Peck!"
In a May 2024 post, Aaron Miller's father wrote a congratulatory post on his Facebook after Aaron was nominated for the Assistant Coach of the Year Award:
"Very proud dad here in Savannah! Aaron Miller," shared Dennis Miller.
