The FBI is offering a $15,000 reward for any information regarding the disappearance of a 14-year-old from Maine. Stefanie Damron was last seen on September 23, walking out of her home in New Sweden, near the Canadian border, into the woods.
Her family reported her missing the following day, and more than two months have passed without leads.
The family shared a statement with WAGM, originally posted on Facebook, detailing the day Stefanie went missing. It explains:
“Stefanie got into an argument with her sister while we were gone and walked off. We live a half mile back in the woods and our kids are very comfortable in their surroundings so there was nothing to raise flags the first few hours.”
The family also addressed online criticisms, clarifying their parenting choices, as they’ve faced public scrutiny in recent weeks.

Stefanie Damron, 13, disappeared from her home in Maine on September 23. She is described to be 5 feet tall, 130 lbs, with green eyes and shoulder-length brown hair, wearing blue jeans, a blue long-sleeve shirt, and black Harley Davidson boots.
The FBI, in coordination with Maine State Police, is offering a $15,000 reward for information leading to her return or the arrest of anyone involved. According to People Magazine, On October 23, authorities confirmed that despite extensive efforts, Stefanie Damron remained missing. Investigators have conducted numerous interviews and followed leads in Maine, other states, and Canada.
In addition, the Maine Warden Service and Maine State Police K9 Unit have searched large areas near her last known location.
In a press conference held on Monday, Maine State Police Major Scott Gosselin stated:
“We are looking for help from the public in order to maintain a vigilance for Stefanie and to report any tips or leads that might be helpful to our investigation,”
in a previous interview, the Maine State Police Major confirmed that Stefanie Damron was without electronic devices and had limited access to social media. Although she had previously run away, no credible leads or sightings have emerged since her disappearance.
When asked about the FBI's involvement, Gosselin explained that due to the case's proximity to the border, it's standard to involve the FBI in missing persons cases, particularly when all possibilities remain open.
