Sarah Boone, a 46-year-old Florida woman, who was arrested and charged for the alleged murder of her boyfriend Torres, 42, was found guilty of second-degree murder by the jury. The conviction comes four years after Boone allegedly left her boyfriend to die in a suitcase.

Jorge Torres was found dead in the couple's apartment in a suitcase. According to arrest reports, Sarah Boone was charged with murder after the detectives discovered videos that showed Torres yelling for help. Sarah, since her arrest, has also gone through multiple defense attorneys, but most of them dropped her due to various reasons including irreconcilable differences.

Details of the crimes allegedly committed by Sarah Boone

The crime was committed on February 23, 2020, and at the time Sarah had said to the authorities that what happened was a drunken hide-and-seek game that went wrong. According to Sarah's version of events, she and her boyfriend Torres were drinking and playing a hide-and-seek game, when Torres allegedly got into the suitcase, and she zipped him up because she thought it would be funny.

"In my head, I said, "Oh, man we're not going to sleep any time soon." And I walked over and he was trying to get himself flat so that I couldn't tell that he was in there. I just kinda zipped him up, we thought it was funny and were joking about how he was small enough to fit inside the suitcase."

Afterwards, Sarah, who was drunk, went upstairs and passed out thinking her then-boyfriend would be able to get out of the suitcase on his own. She only realized that Torres was still in the suitcase the next day morning. When she opened the suitcase, Torres was unresponsive.

But, contrary to what Sarah Boone said, police officers found video evidence in Boone's phone, which allegedly shows Torres repeatedly calling Boone's name asking for help, and saying he can't breathe, etc, but Sarah replies with statements like

"For everything you've done to me, f--- you,"
"Yeah, that's what you do when you choke me,"
"Oh, that's what I feel like when you cheat on me."

It also did not help Sarah that Torres's body had multiple injuries like a busted lip, and when confronted with evidence she changed her original statement. Sarah, later claimed that, after zipping Jorge in the suitcase, she wanted to confront him about his abuse, in hopes that he becomes a better person.

She also admitted that when Torres finally got his hand out, she beat his hands with her son's baseball bat, until he pulled his hands back. Sarah Boone also alleges that she was scared to let Torres out because she noticed the tone change and was terrified.

Sarah Boone, who had changed her defense attorneys multiple times, mainly because of a request from the defense attorneys, took the trial in her defense. She alleges that her actions were because of alcohol consumption and self-defense, as Torres used to abuse her.

According to the press release by the prosecutors, a ten-day jury trial found Sarah Boone guilty of second-degree murder, she is to be sentenced on December 2 and will face up to life in prison.
