An Amber Alert was activated for Mia James, an 11-year-old girl from Athens, Texas, on Friday. Thankfully, to the relief of authorities and Mia's family, she was found safe and sound at a game room in Mabank (a town that is a 17-minute drive from where Mia James lives.)
According to the Henderson County Sheriff's Office, on Thursday, Mia James left her home on County Road 3925, just north of Athens, and was believed to have been picked up by an unidentified subject. However, in the latest updates, according to CBS19 News, Henderson County Sheriff Botie Hillhouse said that Mia James was found on Friday night.
Plea for help from Mia James' family
Mariann James, the mother of Mia James, had posted an emotional and urgent plea asking for help from the community. In the post, she mentioned that the police are actively searching for her daughter and urged anyone with any information about Mia James to contact her or the Henderson County Police Department. Mariann wrote:
"If anyone sees my daughter she is missing ,the police are out looking for her so if anyone can share this post an get the word out so we can bring our daughter back home please contact me or Henderson county police department"
In another Facebook post shared by Jen Heaven, Mia James's aunt urged people to help find her niece and bring her home to safety to her sister Mariann. She wrote:
"Please contact police in Eustace Texas or my sister Mariann James. My niece is missing 😢 Please help my sister Mariann to get her daughter home safely"

"We are asking for your help locating Mia James who is 11 years old approximately 5’5” tall and 98 pounds. She left her residence on Henderson County Road 3925 just north of Athens and is believed to have been picked up by an unknown subject. Last seen wearing black shorts and a teal hoodie with “Venom” on the hoodie. If you have any information in reference to her location please call the Sheriff’s Office immediately at 9036755128."
Although the investigation continues to look into the circumstances surrounding her disappearance, the story of Mia James’s disappearance concluded with a wave of relief and gratitude for the authorities and her family.
