The family of 30-year-old Hannah Kobayashi from Maui, Hawaii, is desperately seeking any information that would lead to her whereabouts after she disappeared a week ago during a layover at Los Angeles International Airport.

According to family members, Kobayashi was on her way to New York City to visit family but did not board the connecting flight at LAX, scheduled to depart at 11 p.m. on Friday, November 8, 2024. Kobayashi then decided to attend an event at The Grove and was in touch with her family throughout the weekend.

In a Facebook post user Romand Conquer, who claimed the missing woman was his niece, said she was last seen on November 10, 2024, at the Lebron James event at The Grove in Los Angeles.


What we know of Hawaii woman Hannah Kobayashi's disappearance

According to KTLA, Kobayashi’s family said the missing woman left Hawaii to travel to New York City to visit family on November 8, 2024. However, after missing her connecting flight in Los Angeles on November 8, she reportedly went to The Grove for a Lebron James event.

Kobayashi was reportedly in touch with family through phone. But her aunt, Larie Pidgeon, said when her niece returned to LAX on November 10, she began sending bizarre text messages that sparked concern from family members. Outlining the message, Pidgeon said:

“Strange, cryptic messages – things about the matrix, it was so unlike her.”

ABC Eye Witness news reported Hannah Kobayashi also sent texts to a friend alleging someone was trying to steal her identity. The family members have not heard from the missing person since November 10, 2024.

In a Facebook post, Larie Pidgeon said she last spoke to her niece on Sunday, November 10, 2024. At the time, Hannah Kobayashi was reportedly trying to get a connecting flight to New York from LAX airport after missing the flight on November 8.

Meanwhile, in a Facebook post, a family member implored community members to help find their niece.

"This is my niece Hannah Midori Eve Kobayashi I last spoke to her on Sunday night from LAX airport. She was trying to get a flight to NY to meet me but never got on the connecting flight. Please spread the word out & help us find her. Thank you."

Hannah Kobayashi's ex-boyfriend was also on the same trip from Maui to LAX

Hannah Kobayashi’s family has reportedly filed a report with LAX police and LAPD.

Hannah's father Ryan Kobayashi, who flew to Los Angeles to help search for his missing daughter, told Eyewitness News alarms were raised after family members received a few bizarre messages from his daughter with words such as "spiritual awakening," before apologizing about craziness.

HawaiiNewsNow citing relatives reported the missing woman’s ex-boyfriend was also on the same trip from Maui to LAX. The former couple, who were seemingly planning to attend an event in New York, reportedly purchased tickets before their breakup.

The outlet alleged the couple did not sit together or talk during the flight. Hannah Kobayashi's father told the publication that her ex-boyfriend, who was helpful and receptive during the investigation, arrived in New York after boarding the connecting aircraft.

Hannah Kobayashi is described as 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighs 140 pounds, has brown eyes and brown hair, with a fair complexion and freckles. Anyone with information was urged to call 845-750-3006 or reach out to authorities.
