Nelle Diala, a former Alaska Airlines flight attendant, was fired on November 17, 2024, after posting a TikTok video of herself twerking. Since then, the video has fueled debate and garnered over $2K in support.

When Nelle Diala, a former flight attendant for Alaska Airlines, uploaded a TikTok video of her twerking and dancing in an empty aircraft aisle during a layover, she was fired. With the caption, "Ghetto bih till i D-l-E, don’t let the uniform fool you," instead of garnering praise, it attracted criticism. Since then, the video clip has received thousands of likes and over 90,000 views.

According to Diala, the video was supposed to be "light-hearted" and celebrated her probationary period with the airline. The airline fired Diala, as she allegedly breached their social media policy. Even though Diala clarified, that she took the video when she was waiting for pilots during downtime at six in the morning.

“I’ve always been careful about what I share online,” claimed Diala, upon her firing.

The airline's name was never revealed but it was through her video that it was revealed that she was an employee of Alaska Airlines.

The video has received a wide range of responses from the public. Some have criticised Diala for not acting in an appropriate manner while on duty while others showed support for her, claiming firing her was extreme. Her GoFundMe has been extensively shared all over and has received tons of donations.

As of January 20, 2025, her GoFundMe campaign, "Support for a Wrongfully Fired Flight Attendant," has raised more than $2,800.

On her GoFundMe page, she wrote,

“Although it was a poor decision on my behalf I didn’t think it would cost me my dream job. I explained that the video wasn’t intended to harm anyone or the company, but they didn’t want to listen,”

She also stated that she was fired, “without warning, discussion, or a proper investigation.”

More than $2800 in donations to her GoFundMe for Diala so that she can manage her financial problems.

This is what Alaska Airlines said about the issue.

"We hold all flight attendants to high standards for conduct and guest care. All new flight attendants are subject to probationary periods, just like all Alaska Airlines employees."

With an eye towards the future, Diala said,

“I’ve learned from my mistakes, and those don’t define me.”
