On December 17, 2024, Nathan Mahoney, a 32-year-old employee of Anderson Express Inc., a manufacturing company, allegedly stabbed President Erik Denslow in the company's Muskegon, Michigan office during a staff meeting.

As reported by Fox 17, the court records state that a 32-year-old person reportedly entered a conference room during a morning meeting at Anderson Express on Tuesday and attacked the company president with a knife featuring a red handle.

Court documents identified this person as Nathan Mahoney. Mahoney reportedly attacked Erik Denslow by stabbing him in the side with a knife before fleeing the scene in his car. As reported by Fox 17, according to court records, Mahoney fled the manufacturing facility in Fruitport Township and was apprehended by Muskegon County deputies within an hour in a backyard located in Ravenna.

According to People Magazine, Erik Denslow is in critical condition but is expected to recover. The police have been interviewing Mahoney's coworkers to figure out his motives behind the killing. His coworkers informed the police that Nathan Mahoney had only worked for the company a few weeks before describing him as someone with a 'quiet demeanor' at work.

Mahoney has been charged with attempted murder and fleeing the scene. He is currently held at the Muskegon County Jail.

As reported by MLive, News 8, and FOX 17, Nathan Mahoney was arraigned on Wednesday. His attorney informed People Magazine that he has pleaded not guilty, but declined to provide additional comments.

Did Luigi Mangione inspire Nathan Mahoney?

When asked if the authorities thought this was a 'copycat' attempt after the Luigi Mangione case, while speaking to News 8, Deputy Chief Greg Poulson said that they haven't ruled anything out. He stated:

“I think that comes to everyone’s mind in this time. We’re going through all his social accounts, all his electronic media and trying to determine a motive for this act,”

United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson was fatally shot on December 4, and Luigi Mangione is currently being charged with his murder. While no clear motive has been officially stated, the police found a copy of a manifesto when they arrested Luigi Mangione. According to it, Luigi was frustrated with systemic issues in the U.S. Healthcare industry and its economic structure.

A woman named Brianna Boston was termed as the first Luigi Mangione copycat to be arrested. Boston was arrested for using the words 'Delay, Deny, Depose. You people are next.' in a call to her insurance company, the same words that were found on the shell casings allegedly left behind by Luigi Mangione after the United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson's shooting.

According to People Magazine, as reported by MLive and WZZM 13, since the stabbing, the company Anderson Express Inc. has released a statement saying they are 'in shock' over the incident and 'are also focused on supporting our employees as they process this senseless assault.'
