Mike Davis, a prominent legal figure and potential candidate for Attorney General in Donald Trump's led administration, recently stirred controversy with strong statements directed at New York Attorney General Letitia James.

Davis, founder of the Article III Project, has made it clear he would actively pursue legal consequences for James, who has been a staunch critic of Trump and a key player in legal actions against him.

On Thursday, Mike Davis appeared on The Benny Show with commentator and YouTuber Benny Johnson, where he challenged New York Attorney General Letitia James over her ongoing legal battles against Donald Trump. Davis directly addressed James, saying:

“Let me just say this to 'Big Tish' James, the New York Attorney General, I dare you to try to continue your lawfare against President Trump in his second term.”

Alleged that James had misused her position to launch a politically motivated campaign against Trump. He accused her of leading a conspiracy to undermine Trump and his businesses, suggesting her actions amounted to an abuse of power for partisan gain.

Why did Mike Davis say that to Letitia James?

In 2018, Letitia James campaigned with a commitment to confront then-President Trump, and earlier this year, she achieved a civil fraud case victory against Trump and executives within the Trump Organization. Being critical of her constant legal battles against Trump, In The Benny Show, Mike Davis went on to say:

“Listen here, sweetheart, we’re not messing around this time, and we will put your fat a** in prison for conspiracy against rights. I promise you."

Letitia James, a Democrat, has been a major legal obstacle for Donald Trump. Her pursuit of Trump began in 2019, following testimony by Michael Cohen, Trump’s former attorney, who alleged that the Trump Organization had inflated its assets to insurance companies and potentially engaged in tax irregularities. These claims, made during a congressional hearing led by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, spurred James to launch an investigation.

According to Law and Crime News, in September 2022, James escalated her actions by filing a $250 million civil fraud lawsuit against Trump, his children, and the Trump Organization, accusing them of fraudulent financial practices.

A year later, in September 2023, a Manhattan judge ruled in favor of James’s office on several summary judgment motions, finding that Trump, his sons Donald Jr. and Eric, and their business associates had committed fraud. This ruling led to the revocation of several business licenses for the Trump Organization in New York, severely impacting their ability to operate in the state. Additionally, Trump’s attorneys faced personal sanctions of $7,500 each for presenting what the court deemed frivolous arguments.

Is Mike Davis being considered as Attorney General?

During his conversation with conservative commentator Benny Johnson, Mike Davis intensified his rhetoric, saying that a Trump-led administration would seek justice against what he described as 'Democrats’ bodies' who, in his view, have politicized their offices.

According to Law and Crime, Mike Davis has not shied away from embracing a highly aggressive stance. He said that, if appointed, he would prioritize prosecuting figures like Letitia James, claiming her actions represent a 'conspiracy' against Trump.

His words indicate that a future Trump administration could take unprecedented steps against high-profile officials prosecuting Trump, signaling an intent to reshape the role of the Attorney General in pursuing political adversaries.

A recent Wall Street Journal report mentions that Trump’s team sees Davis as a candidate for either Attorney General or another legal position within the administration.

While Mike Davis appeared to dismiss this report humorously in a social media post by captioning it :

'No, thank you. I want to serve as the Viceroy'

His bold and aggressive approach toward New York Attorney General Letitia James implies that he may anticipate a significant role in a potential Trump administration.
