Why is there a sudden spike in interest in Margaret Brennan's life?
The recent spike in interest in Margaret Brennan’s life stems from her high-profile exchange with Vice President JD Vance during a heated discussion on Face the Nation on January 26.
Margaret Brennan persistently questioned Vice President Vance's stance on refugee vetting processes and his alignment with former President Trump’s refugee suspension policy. Vance argued that the process isn’t strict enough, emphasizing his main concern is keeping Americans safe.
Brennan reminded Vance of his previous statement that the U.S. shouldn’t abandon those who helped its government. She then asked why he now supports blocking refugees. In response, Vance cited an Afghan man who arrived in the U.S. after the chaotic 2021 withdrawal and was later arrested for allegedly planning a terrorist attack.
