According to the police, Rudy's family members were present at home when he accidentally shot himself. After this tragic incident, gun experts in Minnesota talked about how to keep guns away from a child's reach and stressed the importance of educating children about guns and the danger that comes with it.
As per Valley News reports Mike Price, the general manager of Bill’s Gun Shop and Range, said in an interview,
"Familiarize the child with the gun, don’t make it a secret, don’t keep it a secret. Tell them about it, take the mystery away from it."
He also stated how important it is to keep the gun locked for the safety of the family. There are various ways to keep a gun safe, including fingerprint locks, big safes, little safes, trigger locks, and cable locks, which are some of the common ways. At the Red River Range, Lonny Wertz, a Minnesota resident who instructs young people in gun safety, stated,
"We teach kids never to trust a gun, treat every gun as if it’s loaded, never trust a gun that is unloaded, always assume that it’s loaded."
The Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating the case to find out how Rudy got hold of a gun and what led to the shooting.
No further details have been provided, and no arrests have been made yet.
