Reggie Hunter, 37, and Kareem Badawi, two Baton Rouge men, were two of 15 people killed in the terrorist attack that took place on Bourbon Street on January 1, 2025. A Lafayette man was also killed, while several others were left in critical condition.
A truck speeding down Bourbon Street crashed into Hunter, a father of two, and his cousin as well. At the time, the two men were on their way to New Orleans to celebrate the New Year, WAFB has reported. The former eventually succumbed to his injuries, while the state of his cousin remains unknown.

As per AP News, a U.S. Army veteran was driving the car, and it hoisted the flag of one of the Islamic State groups. He was eventually shot to death by the cops. The FBI has revealed that investigations into the attack are underway, and reportedly, it is believed that the driver did not act alone.
Investigators reportedly uncovered guns and what seemed to be detonation devices inside the vehicle. Similar devices were also located elsewhere in the French Quarter.
President Joe Biden revealed on Wednesday that hours before the attack, the assailant had taken to social media to upload videos of himself claiming that he had been "inspired by the Islamic State group," which made him want to commit murder.
