The family's statement shared via Dragzine Magazine reads:
“It is with immense sadness and devastation that I share the passing of our sweet girl, Elienisse Zoe Diaz last night. At 10:54 p.m. she was called home and entered the gates of heaven, fully healed from her earthly injuries. Please keep her mom, dad, brother, sister, and extended family close to your heart in prayer, as they navigate the unimaginable loss of their sweet girl. I also pray all of our teachers and staff are given the words and wisdom to help comfort and guide the grief of all the kids at our school, especially the other first graders, as they navigate the loss of their beloved classmate. Her presence will be so greatly missed and their little hearts are so innocent and tender. My heart is absolutely shattered.”
