Melinda Irizarry recently suffered multiple wounds after she was stabbed 14 times. The incident occurred in a Florida motel where Irizarry was staying with her boyfriend and five-year-old daughter.
According to NBC, an affidavit filed in the court revealed that Irizarry was staying at a motel located in Kissimmee to celebrate a birthday. On Sunday night, she ordered a Marco's pizza, and a 22-year-old Brianna Alvelo allegedly delivered it.
Upon delivering the pizza, which cost $33.10, Irizarry asked Alvelo to give her a change for a $50 bill. When Alvelo told her she did not have a change, Irizarry searched for smaller bills and ended up tipping the former $2, per the authorities.
The affidavit further reported that two people later knocked on the motel room's door. When Irizarry opened the door, she saw a man and a woman, clad in all-black clothes with face masks. They forced themselves into the room while being armed with a firearm.
The man asked Melinda Irizarry's boyfriend to get into the bathroom, while the woman, who allegedly was Alvelo, went through her purse. She also pulled out a pocket knife and struck Irizarry.
While the victim tried to shield her daughter, she then threw her daughter on the bed to pick up her phone. The woman with the knife smashed her phone and stabbed her multiple times. The man, who has not been identified yet, stopped the assault when he allegedly asked Alvelo to leave.
Osceola County Sheriff's Office arrived at the scene and rushed Melinda Irizarry to an area hospital. Upon getting treated for her wounds, Irizarry found out that she was pregnant. She had to undergo emergency surgery for her stab wounds in the arms, legs, chest, and abdomen, and a ruptured lung.
