Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen was admitted to a hospital on December 22, 2024, after an incident in horse riding. According to the press release, Pillen was injured when he was thrown off a new horse while riding with his family members. He was initially transported to Columbus Community Hospital before being transferred to UNMC in Omaha for some tests and treatment. His office has pointed out that he needs to spend several days in the hospital as a precaution.

Mayor of Omaha, Jean Stothert, also wished Governor Pillen a “swift and complete recovery.” He wrote:

Pillen garnered approximately 33.75% of the vote within the Republican primary, and went on to secure the governorship after beating Democratic nominee, Carol Blood, by nearly 60% of the vote.
