Carol Acosta, an influencer known for her vocal advocacy of body positivity, has died. She was 27. Known online as Killadamente, Acosta was having dinner with her family on Saturday at a restaurant in New York when she began choking on her food.
She subsequently went into cardiac arrest, and her younger sister Khatyan took to Instagram to confirm her demise. In a post shared with Acosta's 130,000 followers, accompanied by an image of herself and the departed smiling on an airplane, Khatyan penned the following:
"I love you sister and I will always love you. give thanks to God for giving me a sister like you with your big heart. Rest in peace my sister."
In a video, with tears streaming down her face, Khatyan addressed Acosta's seven million fans for their support:
"To all the people who are sending me messages of condolences, I want to thank you a lot for being there and for your support. And thank you also for supporting my sister while she was still alive."

While the autopsy results have yet to come back, family members believe Carol Acosta succumbed to a cardiorespiratory arrest brought on by the choking incident. She was slated to welcome her third child before she died unexpectedly, having announced her pregnancy in July 2024. She welcomed her second child, Legend, in February 2024 and her first, Reina, in 2023.
As reported by News.com.au, a cousin claims that one minute, Carol Acosta was happily eating food and another, she began to “choke and have difficulty breathing." Within a few minutes, she began experiencing an “attack of some kind”.
The family rushed her to the hospital, though it was to no avail. They also claim that while "everyone wants to know what happened," "we still are not too sure, and we are awaiting the post-mortem results." The family has since issued a statement that said,
“On January 3 our dear Carolar better known as Killadamente passed away. The Acosta Gonzalez family shares its pain with everyone who knew her.”
Carol Acosta moved to the US at age 12. However, growing up, she was bullied for her weight. She then decided to capitalize off of her struggles, having turned it to comedy. In 2017, she dropped the track Me Amo y No Me Importa- or 'I love myself and I don't care' in English.
