A 17-year-old girl named Angelina Camillia Gonzales from California was murdered just days before Christmas. A popular cheerleader who dreamed of becoming a wrestler was killed by an ex-boyfriend on the night of December 20, 2024. The victim’s family has since set up a GoFundMe account for her funeral expenses and has received over $16,000 in donations.

Angelina’s mother, Leticia Pimentel Caraballo, described her in the fundraiser campaign as:

“She had a heart of gold. She was my perfect gorgeous Angel baby. I don’t even have the words to say. I can’t even cope. I need her. Our family is devastated.”

The family is also looking for donations through their car-wash-and-bake sale on the coming Saturday in VFW, Azusa, starting from 9.00 am to 3.00 pm, as per the report by KFI AM 640.

KABC reported that on the night of the incident, the police responded to a case of a fatal assault at 10.00 pm on North Soldano Avenue. Police arrived at the scene to find Gonzales with several stab injuries. She was taken to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

The suspect, whose identity is yet to be disclosed publicly, is an 18-year-old who was known to Gonzales and is currently in custody. The perpetrator is to be charged after the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office reviews.

Angelina Camillia Gonzales case

According to family members, Gonzales had been taken by her ex-boyfriend after attending a cheerleading banquet earlier that evening. They were able to find her through her cellphone's tracking feature, reports KABC.

Robert Caraballo, Gonzales' stepfather, said he was devastated over the loss and recalled warning her to stay away from her ex-boyfriend because of previous concerns about his behavior.

"When I got there, there was already crime scene tape up and forensics and all kinds of stuff. And I ran up to the officers like, 'Hey, my daughter's in there. You know, my daughter is in there. I'm trying to find her. She's not home.' And that's when they told me, sit aside for a minute."

Ruben Torres, Angelina’s brother, told ABC7 Eyewitness:

“It's unreal, like just the fact that you know, anyone could bring themselves to harm just such a sweet and loving, funny person.”

Caraballo told ABC7 Eyewitness:

“She was practicing at home and wanted to be another stunt team. And that was like her heart cheering for a long time.”
"She was looking forward to that. She's amazing that I'm broken right now, I'm not going to lie to you, because the little bit of time that I had with hers, I can't even."

Angelina was going to celebrate her 18th birthday on January 7 and had just joined the Azusa High School wrestling team. Her brother, Ruben, described her as "always bubbly," bringing joy to everyone around her.
