Brianna Moore, a 19-year-old Florida college student, is facing charges for allegedly killing her child. Police have alleged that Moore gave birth to a baby in her college dorm room and then left it in a trashcan. She is facing multiple charges in connection with the infant's death.
Tampa Police Department released a statement regarding Moore's arrest. The statement read,
"The US Marshals Task Force, working in partnership with The Tampa Police Department, arrested 19-year-old Brianna Moore, (white female, 03/28/2005), in connection with the death of an infant found at the University of Tampa on April 28, 2024."
The police further revealed that the investigation began when a possible miscarriage on campus was reported.
"Further investigation led to the discovery of the deceased infant, who was later identified as the suspect's child. An autopsy determined that the infant died as a result of asphyxia and multiple rib fractures. The manner of death was ruled as a homicide," the police added.
According to Hillsborough State Attorney Suzy Lopez, Brianna Moore's roommates first reported the presence of a child in their shared bathroom. While Moore denied being pregnant, her roommates later found a deceased baby in the bathroom bin.
Per Lopez, Moore had allegedly admitted to delivering the baby in the bathroom. She added that she held the baby "tightly to her body until she stopped crying." She then wrapped the baby in a towel and put it in the trash.
Moore is facing multiple charges including "aggravated manslaughter of a child, child neglect with great bodily harm, failure to report death, and unlawful storage of human remains." She was first held at Lauderdale County (MS) Jail and was set to be extradited to Hillsborough County in Florida.
